My name is Nicho Plowman and I am a Vedic Meditation teacher. Now based in Sydney, after over five years teaching in Paris and around the world, I am happy to be home and to share my teachings with you.

What is Vedic Meditation?

Vedic Meditation originated in India and has been enriching lives for more than 5,000 years. It is a traditional form of mantra-based meditation that has been passed down from teacher to teacher.

Vedic Meditation is a simple technique, which is practiced while sitting comfortably with your eyes closed.

Vedic Meditation is often mistakenly defined as a Hindu religion, however the technique originates from ancient India and predates modern Hinduism.

This timeless tradition of knowledge – the same knowledge base that brought us yoga, Ayurveda and much of Eastern philosophy – has been maintained and taught in its purity through an unbroken master/disciple Vedic tradition for thousands of years to the present day.

Vedic Meditation is taught world-wide by independent teachers, although there is no formal organisation and meditators do not have to join any group to learn.

What is a mantra?

A mantra is a sound without meaning that is intrinsically charming to the mind. We silently repeat our mantra sitting comfortably with our eyes closed. When our mind rests, our body is able to rest and release stress.

Practiced for 20 minutes twice per day, Vedic Meditation is a practical householder technique, meaning it can easily be applied in our everyday lives to recharge our body and mind, and encourage a brighter, more positive conscious state.

Your meditation teacher will prescribe you with your specifically chosen mantra, which you silently repeat to yourself and allow your body and mind to relax and release tension.

You will emerge feeling rested, more alert, less stressed, with increased energy, patience and creativity.
